Busy busy busy.

Just realized I hadn't had a journal entry in over a year. Decided to change that by making a little update here. So far, life's good. Just busy busy busy. Feel free to note me or whatever if you really want the details.

Now that I'm working and getting paid for it, I've been feeling small urges to indulge in something I would probably never have seriously considered due to my normally rather frugal nature.

A collar.

Yup, you read correctly.

I've always thought collars were aesthetically pleasing. I kind of attribute the inkling of curiosity to Bowser from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. Ever since that game, I thought Bowser was kick ass (especially the way he would perform a drill claw maneuver when you timed the combo button correctly!). Even more to the point, since I started liking Bowser's character, I paid more attention to his appearance and thought his black studded cuffs and collar looked like the coolest fashion items ever.

Though, honestly, I never really fully investigated that interest. Sure, I bought a cheap studded bracelet at Claire's or whatever when I was in ninth grade, but I never really wore it around due to high school concerns about it being used as a weapon or just going against the code of conduct. So, my exploration was put on an abrupt halt back then.

Don't get me wrong though. I'm not into yiffing, whipping, or anything similar. I honestly like the collar as an accessory rather than a slavery or bondage symbol. For a long while, I thought I was alone in this feeling. I know it's a silly a silly notion; considering we have so many people on the planet, obviously some other person would share my mindset. Lo and behold, I stumbled across a community of people who DO like collars for a variety of reasons, including being furry followers, BDSM backers, appearance admirers, or a combination of the three.

Not to mention, I'm also in college where the otherwise ultra conservative parts of Texas high schools can't prohibit me from trying out a new look. So, I've felt a renewed sense of reassurance and desire to wear a simple every-day collar (yeah, nothing with super huge spikes and black leather XD). I probably wouldn't put it on when I go to work or interviews, but I'm sure wearing it around campus would be fun. I'm a little hesitant about the responses I'll get since I don't really recall seeing anybody on campus wear a collar, but since I'm in California now, I don't fear it would be something on the level of what might otherwise come out of a disapproving Texan's mouth. From what I've read, it seems the most annoying remark I could receive is "Is that a dog collar?" or something of that essence.

Ha ha, now it sounds like I already own a collar. Well, I don't. Just been thinking about it a lot for the past few weeks. Which kind of brings me to my new subject of this nifty site I found that makes custom collars. All around before, I had been seeing these babies go for 40 bucks a pop, being in black leather and silver studs. While I don't disagree that they look cool, I know they'd give the wrong impression the moment anything like that was seen near me. So, I'd rather customize my own collar - to suit more casual, every-day needs than extreme bed-play and animal sort of antics - for a cheaper price. How effing awesome is that?

Way effing awesome.

The only thing that would be even cooler is if I was to win this month's banner contest for said site in which I'd get a $35 discount off a new collar. Figured I'd give it a shot since I'm considering getting one regardless once I get this paycheck. It's a pretty neat place. Check it out below.
