Aggron Plushie.

Description

I actually started this guy as a challenge to myself to see if I could make a Pokemon plushie (official or custom) I've never seen before. As silly as it sounds, I had small visions of how to design the patterns for Aggron while I was drifting to sleep for several nights in a row.

Sewing Aggron together was a lot easier than it was when I sewed Mawile (not pictured) previously. It might have been because I got a better idea of how to handle a needle and thread, or it might have been due to the fact that Aggron was a hell of a lot bigger than Mawile and thus easier to maneuver the needle through - probably a combination of both really.

Admittedly, as I sewed on Aggron's plates to his head (at this time no details where embroidered yet save for the "head sockets" in the back), I kept thinking he looked like a Venemoth or Pupitar because there was no body during this stage. XD I was somewhat reluctant to make the body after noticing this, but I was determined to finish this Aggron (maybe another day, I'll try my hand at the aforementioned Pokemon...)!

Anyway, the embroidery was probably one of the longest parts in this process - mainly because my hand would start cramping from repeated movements and I had a bad habit of sewing late at night when my body was shutting down. I was really pleased on how the embroidery came out, and that probably sped up the plushie making as the rest of the patterns were relatively simple to sew in comparison.

I'd say I probably finished this guy within a few days total, but in reality I took a week from drafting patterns to cutting the materials and sewing it all together. The additional days were due to my rampant laziness that came with sewing Aggron's "rings" on the tail and "bracelets" on the arms and legs; they honestly didn't take terribly long to complete once I got started.

As for the materials involved, Aggron was made from:

--Fleece for the body

--Embroidery floss for the details ("reptile" eyes, embroidered edges around eyes and "head sockets," nostrils, and mouth/teeth)

--Felt (blue eye "filling")

--Polyfill stuffing (Ate half an entire bag - what a monster!)

I also used invisible thread to save me the hassle of finding thread colors that matched the colors of my fleece pieces.

Aggron's a little under 12" tall and 12" long from toes to tail tip. He's relatively light for being so large, but he's incredibly squishy and huggable - he's even posed with arms stretched out, looking for a warm embrace!

Aggron's one of my very first plushies made (technically third, but my second Pokemon plush). I've received a ton of positive responses from posting him and his older sister Mawile on the PKMN Collectors LJ community.

As such, I've been considering taking up commissions; however, nothing's set in stone yet since I have obligations to my school and life first. But, if you're feeling particularly interested in commissioning me, feel free to drop me a line via PM and we can see what I can do for you in the nearby future.

Thanks for looking! Hope you enjoy it! :3
